History

For a hundred years, vineyards have existed on the Saint-Christol hillsides. They
were first developed by the Knights of the Order of Malta, then protected by royal seal. The Saint-Christol wines received the "appellation d’origine" label in 1951 and the AOC Coteaux du Languedoc label in 1963. A common saying among oenologists is that the more the wine suffers in the summer, the better the wine. These vines do suffer as they grow on dry poor soil, on the hills, or Côteaux, above the Languedoc plains.
